Day #4

Today was dedicated towards visiting the Jesus De Christo "Christ the Redeemer" statue. We woke up around 8AM and headed to Copacabana to buy tickets to ride a bus up the mountain. After buying the tickets we had a while to wait in the Copacabana area so we walked around, shopped, got some lunch and dipped our feet in the water. A big wave actually came and took us by surprise drenching those of us who had socks and shoes on. Gabriel got his coconut to drink, which he was looking forward to and was very happy about as you can see by his picture with it below :) After a bit of waiting around, it was our time to get on the bus to head up to Christ the Redeemer. There were a very large amount of people up there, like a Disneyland line on a busy day. Luckily, our tickets were sort of a fast track deal, so we didn't have to wait very long. After arriving up there there were tons of people around the statue taking pictures. Everyone is trying to get a picture without photobombers in their photos which is nearly impossible. After getting some pictures we put the cameras down and took a moment to take in this amazing statue and what it represents. The way Jesus has his arm extended and the way he is positioned on the top of a tall mountain makes you feel very protected and peaceful.

Our way down from the mountain we got some ice cream, at at the Copacabana at an Indian restaurant (I completely misordered and got something I was not anticipating so had to steal some food off my dad! (He doesnt like to share.) After dinner we had to collect tickets for the next day of Women's Water Polo at a hotel in Copa. We were in a new an unfamiliar area and took a different route home on the tram and got completely lost. It took us three hours to get home! Yikes! Once we were home we were very happy to sleep. We didnt wake up until about 10AM the next morning.
